Abstract. The article considers the problem of preparing young teachers for practical realization of a competence-based education model. The paper evaluates the potentials of the supervisor’s institution in relation to a competence aspect and identifies its basic development trends. The author analyzes the changes in the paradigms of teachers’ professional training, emphasizes the importance of on-the-job training, discusses the role of a supervisor as a professional teacher-trainer and formulates recommendations for its improvement.
