Raising Technical Students’ Motivation for Studying English by Means of the English Language Week

Abstract. The article examines the means to raise future engineers’ motivation for studying English by means of the language week. The author emphasizes the necessity for theoretical and practical justification of the English language week as a form of higher school students’ extra-curriculum activity important from the viewpoint of motivation. Relying on systemic and activity-based approaches, the author proposes the techniques to raise a technical student’s motivation for studying English by means of the language week event, in which coordination, technological and reflexive components are identified. Experimental implementation of the proposed methodology is described; the experiment results justify the efficiency of the suggested techniques.
