Practical Russian Language Skills as a Prerequisite for Academic Adaptation of the Central Asian Students

Abstract. The article is devoted to the problem of academic adaptation of the Central Asian students. The authors accentuate the fact that the Russian-language competence of the Central Asian students is limited to the sphere of everyday communication, it is not sufficient for studying at the Russian higher school; so, training students from the near abroad is associated with difficulties. It is emphasized that the sufficient Russian-language competence is a prerequisite for successful academic adaptation of this contingent of learners; therefore, purposeful systematic work is required to develop and improve the Central Asian students’ Russian-language skills.
