Improvement of Leisure Organization in Rural School Daytime Summer Camps

Abstract. Relying on the results of a survey among children who visited rural school daytime summer camps, the author tries to identify prospects of school day camps development. The article considers the following issues: relevance and topicality, advantages and shortcomings of different forms of childrens leisure activity in summer camps. The analysis is conducted from childrens viewpoint. Suggested leisure activities are perceived through the eyes of juveniles of different age groups; the researcher identifies specificity of rural school daytime summer camps, reveals their educational potential, and herein lies scientific originality of the study. The research findings are as follows: the author justifies the necessity to reconsider traditional forms of work in school camps for teenagers, argues for relevance of synthetic forms of leisure activities with elements of tourism, proposes recommendations on organizational and methodological support of school day camps.
