Rhythmic-Syllabic Training as an Instrument to Develop Foreign Language Prosodic Skills

Abstract. The article introduces an authorial educational product aimed to develop students’ foreign language prosodic skills. The study is conducted within the framework of modern linguodidactics focused on finding efficient tools to optimize foreign language teaching process taking into account learners’ needs and their level of language proficiency. The authors analyze the role of phonetic competence and its prosodic component in ensuring successful intercultural communication, justify the efficiency of training as an active form of foreign language teaching. Scientific originality of the paper involves developing authorial educational product, rhythmic-syllabic training, aimed to develop students’ French language prosodic skills. The conclusion is made that syllable as a basic suprasegmental unit and rhythm as a basic speech stream parameter determine French language sound.
