Pedagogical Design of a Linguistic Course to Prepare University Students for Research Activities

Abstract. The study aims to form the structure and determine the content of the discipline “Basics of Research Activities: A Linguistic Aspect”, offered to first-year university students. The structure of the training course is described taking into account the theoretical and practical components; its linguistic and extralinguistic content is determined. Scientific novelty of the study lies in elaborating a universal training course for higher educational institutions aimed at developing research competence among first-year students of different training programmes. As a result, it has been proved that the immersion of students in research activities from the first year is important for the formation of research competence, as well as universal competences (critical thinking, creativity, coordinating with others).
