Comparative Phrases with Components-Zoonyms ‘Шы’ (Horse) and ‘Хьэ’ (Dog) in the Kabardian-Circassian Language (by the Material of Fiction Texts)

Abstract. The article examines comparative phraseological units and author’s comparisons with the components-zoonyms ‘шы’ (horse) and ‘хьэ’ (dog) in the Kabardian-Circassian language. The research objectives are as follows: to analyse the Kabardian-Circassian literary texts with a view to identify comparative phrases and author’s comparisons with the mentioned zoonyms, to clarify what human qualities they personify. Scientific originality of the study lies in the fact that the Kabardian-Circassian comparative phraseological units with the components-zoonyms ‘шы’ (horse) and ‘хьэ’ (dog) are for the first time subjected to a linguo-cultural analysis. The findings indicate that in the Kabardian-Circassian phraseology, the zoonym ‘шы’ (horse) has a positive evaluation, whereas the zoo-lexeme ‘хьэ’ (dog) possesses both positive and negative connotation.
