Linguistic Means to Express Evaluation in the German-Language Oral Memoirs

Abstract. The article examines the role of evaluativeness in eyewitnesses’ oral memoirs in the process of cultural memory formation. The study of the linguistic means expressing evaluativeness as a feature of memoirs discourse contributes to revealing specificity of the German value and cultural worldview under the conditions of globalization. Special attention is paid to identification of the key words on the subjects "Holocaust" and "The Fall of the Berlin Wall" and critical analysis of their linguistic environment from the viewpoint of evaluation in terms of the "good/bad" scale.
