Factors Influencing Efficiency of Teaching Audition to Non-Linguistic Students

Abstract. The research objective includes identifying the factors influencing the efficiency of teaching audition to non-linguistic students. The article examines the psychological mechanisms involved in speech perception, justifies the necessity to develop these mechanisms when teaching audition as a type of speech activity taking into account the fact that speech perception is an inherent component of communication. Scientific originality of the study lies in the fact that the authors provide a comprehensive analysis of the problem of teaching audition and justify the use of denotation maps (structural-logic schemes of a text) as efficient means to evaluate understanding of foreign speech. The research findings are as follows: the authors justify efficiency of using denotation maps when teaching audition to non-linguistic students, substantiate the provision that denotation maps promote formation of auditory perception mechanisms, develop students’ logical thinking, analytical and information processing skills.
