Criteria to Assess Oral Speech Skills of Secondary School Pupils Studying Udmurt as a Foreign Language

Abstract. The research objective includes approbation of the developed criteria to assess oral speech skills of secondary school pupils studying Udmurt as a foreign language. The study focuses on analysing the formation of secondary school pupils’ oral speech skills at the lessons of Udmurt as a foreign language. The emphasis is made on speaking as a type of speech activity aimed to develop the Udmurt-language competence. The article introduces an educational-methodological complex for secondary school pupils "?еч-а, бур-а, удмурт кыл!" ("Hello, Udmurt!"). Scientific originality of the paper involves developing criteria to assess oral speech skills of secondary school pupils studying Udmurt as a foreign language. The research findings are as follows: the authors provide a list of communicative skills pupils should acquire when studying Udmurt and introduce criteria to assess oral speech skills of secondary school pupils studying Udmurt as a foreign language.
