Using Game Technologies at Online Foreign Language Lessons When Teaching the Theme "Coronavirus Infection" to Secondary and Higher School Students

Abstract. The paper aims to justify efficiency of using game technologies at online foreign language lessons at institutions of higher and secondary education. The article describes a set of interrelated games dedicated to a relevant problem of COVID-19 spread and summarizes results of their approbation. Scientific originality of the study includes development and approbation of a set of games that familiarize students with the English terminology concerning the basic symptoms, general principles of treatment and prevention of COVID-19. The conclusion is made that games help to assimilate and actualize thematic vocabulary, consolidate previously studied grammatical material, assimilate rules of behaviour under pandemic conditions, raise students’ motivation for learning a foreign language.
